Awesomeness, in its purest form, is often found right outside our respective doors. For all the awesome things that people do, it’s hard to beat natural phenomena. British filmmakers Liberty Smith and Sophie Windsor Clive (Islands and Rivers) filmed this breathtaking encounter with a massive flock (otherwise known as a murmuration) of starlings flying over the River Shannon in Ireland.
Like schools of fish, these birds protect themselves by traveling in large, densely-packed groups whose shapes are constantly transforming. These birds are just going about their normal business, trying to survive, but in the process they create an incredibly awesome spectacle to behold.
If this short film, entitled Murmuration, doesn’t leave you with at least a few goosebumps please take a moment to make sure you’re still breathing and haven’t begun craving human brain matter.

At first I was like “whoa, are these really birds? How is it possible for them?”
Can’t get enough...this! It’s too cool!
